Power 2 weight ratio calculations

Right, this question will no doubt make it glaringly obvious how dim I am with figures, but I just can't get my head round the EVO power 2 weight figures.
Coz when ever I try & work out how they have got ‘em- I get it totally wrong & I think its the ton/tonne bit that is messing me up.
Ok as an example new M3 338bhp 1570kg EVO P2W fig= 219 bhp/ton
But if I do 338bhp divided by 1570 kg I get 0.215 so times that by 1000 I get 215.
So as that figure is not a million miles away I guess the tonne (1000kg?) is slightly heavier than a ton?? and I have bhp/tonne not bhp/ton???
So what calculations do EVO use? & assuming they use the non metric ton why do they do that if all vehicle weights now are in kg?. Or have I just messed up my maths somewhere along the line?

1 tonne is 1000kg (2204.6lbs).
So your assumption about 1 tonne and 1 ton being different is correct.
Incidently, 1 ton (US) is 2000lbs, which is 907.185kg.

Your probably right. But could it be that the makers quote a cars weight dry and the mags use a curb weight to do the calc?
