Was just on the M1 and noticed a car whose registration plate began with UF04. Afaik they never issued U plates as it were.

Can any one shed some light on this? I double checked so am not mistaken.

Thanks

Would've thought it was just a normal number plate? confused

U is definitely in the new style (51,02 etc) plate's letters

Aren't you thinking of the single letter prefix numberplates?

UF plates are available, although possibly only as private registrations?: http://dvlaregistrations.direct.gov.uk/search/curr...

Yes, apolgies
I must live a sheltered life as I have never noticed one before smile
I checked on wikipedia and notice that 'U' was not issued a location.

Ux does not appear to be a location code, no, but I guess they can be issued as private plates?

UR02SLO belonged to someone on here with a blue Tuscan - I've got a picture of it somewhere from a Virginia Water meet...

On a tangent, but can a fellow PHer provide a link so I can see what region the first letter in the current number plate belongs to?
