Looks like the FIA are opening up a spot for a new team in 2015, I wonder who?

I can't see why any of the P1 teams would move to F1. I doubt its a big factory team if FIA are having to advertise for teams.

I wonder if it's Honda, they are building an engine anyway... There's also a well known (to them) team principal available.

I can see this making sense.

Good luck with this I'd say

the last time it was opened up the new teams signed up on the understanding it was going to be a cost controlled formula and they would be allowed testing to get them up to speed

then once they were on the hook this never happened

I predict a bid from a consortium consisting of Alex Wurz, Jacques Villeneuve, Craig Pollock, The Kuwaiti Royal family and Mossad. Eddie Irvine and Ralf Schumacher have been signed to drive cars designed by John Barnard and powered by Daihatsu-Supertec-Mechachrome-Hart. Flavio Briatore is in discussions to act as team principal.

Maybe.

I'm only in if Max has a role.

This will be quite exciting with a new team in the F1 series 2015. The FIA has decided to open a new selection process to identify a candidate team to participate at a competitive level in the Formula One World Championship from the start 2015 or the 2016 season up to 2020.

Once again, it's a year after the regs change so said team will spend years playing catch up.

If you had lots of money and wanted in to f1, surely you'd just buy Force India / Torro Rosso / Lotus?

All funded by Quantum who won't have signed their deal with Lotus by then.

Well, they're going to need a few more teams to enter to make up for the inevitable team loses due to financial reasons.

I think there is a real problem in F1 at the moment. The money spread is far from even, and if teams like Lotus are struggling, then I can't see many of the others below them lasting much longer.

Until F1 sorts out the way the money is spread around, I think we'll see a few more teams pulling out in the not too distant future.

If F1 does die on it's posterior then surely the biggest loss will be them not attending and participating at the FoS? frown

Lots of talk in the US about Andretti looking at F1 and one or two GP2 teams have looked at F1 costs closely. It would however be easier to buy Maurussia or Lotus or Force India that set up a new team. But if Prodrive or Toyota have spare facilities then who knows. HRT still have kit knocking around too so look out.
