He'll put it on whoever packed the case perhaps.

In a corrupt country a billionaire won't struggle to get this one dealt with one way or another...

So, in order to explain away the gun, he admitted that he didn't pack and didn't know what was in a bag that he was carrying onto a plane after, I assume, earlier answering "Yes" when asked "did you pack this yourself?".

You don't think he was flying Easy Jet do you?

No doubt Bernie will brush this one off as he has all the other binds he's found himself in.

Maybe he was going to pay James Stunt a visit.

Should have cling-wrapped his suitcase. Philippine airport staff used to (still do?) stab the suitcase zip, insert a bullet, re-zip the suitcase, "find" the bullet going through x-ray and extort $750ish from the traveller so as to avoid detention, questioning etc.

Got caught out when they "detained" a missionary for "Tamin-Bala": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninoy_Aquino_Interna...

I would like to see the headline: "Bernie's Zip Opened, Tiny Gun Found" - nothing to see here then....

Meanwhile.. he's taken the local police dept out for a 7 course dinner and they've decided it was just a misunderstanding.

"Terribly sorry old chaps, it was only a very small gun"

Cheaper than bribing Tony Blair

I can't imagine Bernie ever saying sorry.

Absolutely not. But some may find an apology unnecessary given that "a very small gun" may well be considered "cute" given the right amount of financial incentive...

Only Bernie could bribe a politician, get his policy enacted, and then get his money refunded.

I think his finest moment was bribing his way out of a bribery trial

A 91 year old who holds both grudges and secrets, with a firearm, what could possibly go wrong? No wonder it didn't have any bullets.

I am reasonably sure a brown envelope will be involved and Mr E will be released without charge....
