Anyone recommend Start Rescue? Some good reviews online. RAC is £19 month and AA is £145 for a year. So great value.

never heard of them before (sorry not much help) - but Trust Pilot reviews seem pretty good considering

- I'm just about to need a renewal of mine so I'll keep an eye on this

I can recommend them. I've been with them years and have 3 cars covered on a single policy for £100!

You can change/add/remove cars easily on the app/website

The only time I've needed them they were very quick. A local operation arrived with a recovery truck within about 20 minutes.

The fact they came ready to recover me is brilliant. I once waited 2 hours at the roadside for an RAC van to confirm that I had no drive, before they would send a recovery truck. That took another 2 hours.

Considering going with Start Rescue myself.

There's a third off AA policies, and cashback, which brings the prices in-line with Start Rescue's, but cashback isn't guaranteed and should be treated as a non-guaranteed bonus (as the advice goes). Tempting, though.

With them for bike and car, had to callout for the bike, was here quickly and didn't even get charged excess.

Yes, been with them for about three years, no complaints after a couple of call outs.

Don't know if it applies to you but watch for the maximum age of the cars they will cover ... that's why I'm with Autoaid who I had the misfortune to need yesterday for the 1st time and found to be very good.

I was with StartRescue for a couple of years but never had need of them so can't really comment there.

Only switched to RAC as StartRescue wouldn't cover my motorbike on a joint policy with the car.

Always found them easy to deal with when switching cars midway through a policy.

There's no car age limit with Start Rescue either.

Yes can highly recommend. My bike broke down on a french motorway - they arranged getting me (incl overnight stay) and the bike home. Bike was delivered to my local garage and took about 2 weeks in total.
Their app worked well and good comms throughout.

I am a Start customer but have never had to use them yet, so pleased to see some positive experiences.

They are cheap and good to deal with. Something I could not say for the AA, who I left after getting fed up playing renewal quote bingo every year.

I've been with them for a few years, had to call them out twice - once for a flat battery (they jump started it) and once when a radiator punctured (loaded onto flatbed and taken to garage). I've found them to be very good.

How much! Are any of the 3 driven by different people? If not, personal cover is usually much cheaper.

You can be covered for basically infinite vehicles for less with a number of companies. I have personal cover for under £50 (although I have no home start. If I can't fix a vehicle at home, it'll be very serious anyway). HOWEVER, I'm about to change because I now have 2 cars older than my present breakdown company will cover (21 year old vehicle limit). So i may get a quote myself. smile Meerkat usually provides a good comparison.

I urge people to check their policies, many companies are applying vehicle age restrictions. I notice that promise by Green Flag to halve your renewal price only covers vehicles under 10 years old Talk about having your cake and eating it! Cars under 10 are MUCH less likely to breakdown in the first place...

Yes the three cars are driven by multiple people. We have 3 cars in the family that are effectively my wife's, my daughter's and my son's. I'm insured to drive all 3 so just drive whatever car is free or suits me at the time.

I don't think it matters though. As far as I remember (and I must check) it the car that's covered not the driver, so it would be the same cost even if it was one driver for 3 cars.

My 1987 LR 90 is covered by them. Not had call to use them yet, but they are very reasonably priced and they have an app which seems easy enough to use.

I've used them in the past. Only had to call them out once when I broke down on a motorbike late at night. They attended and recovered me home quickly and without fuss.

I've had cover with them for a few years and used the recovery a couple of times - quick and easy to deal with. Would recommend.

Does personal cover really cover a car and bike of any age? My 25 year old bike is most likely to let me down first..
