Got a full tank of petrol I need to burn through, I tried running idle for an hour but barely used any fuel.

What’s easiest way to use it all.

The quickest legal way is to drive it at 70 on a motorway. Having it not in top gear will further increase fuel use, though place the engine under stress potentially. Other strategies such as cycles of hard braking and rapid acceleration would increase fuel use but is not advisable on public roads

I can help.

I'm not busy tomorrow, so could take it for a thrash until it's almost empty. What car is it?

No charge.

You're welcome. smile

Pull the feed to the fuel rail and run the pump so that you drain it into (a) container(s) of your choice.

pump it out.

depending on the car either divert fuel line and power the pump or expose the tank and stick a pump or syphon in.

Do explain why. What car is it that can’t adjust to a 95 RON? And whose is it?

Put it in an E46 M3 CSL and run at wide open throttle in top gear for about 20 mins if I recall correctly.

Let all tyres down to 50 percent pressure. Drive in 3rd gear along the nearest dual carriageway for a while.

A spirited few hrs driving on twisty hilly roads, with lots of acceleration and braking.

Surprised nobody has suggested throwing a lit match into the fuel tank yet
flames

Seriously though, if the car can be driven on the roads, the most fun way is to go for a sprited drive for a few hours. Even something normally fairly efficient wouldn't do much more than a couple of hundred miles pushed really hard on some windy b-roads.

Another option would be to transfer it into another car (or a couple of jerry cans for later use in the mower) with a pump.

If you don't have the equipment available and a 4 hour brisk drive isn't an option, you could contact one of those companies who rescue the people who put petrol in their diesel tank. They would charge for disposal, but it would then just be one phone call to organise so minimal effort on your part.

Pay to take it a way???

There will be people out there with a length of hosepipe prepared to suck it out of the petrol tank these days if they are getting it free.
