Motoring Plans for 2025
Discussion
Well it’s nearly that time of year again when we start to look into the new year and our motoring plans.
Whilst I looked a few weeks ago at changing the wife’s Mini, it’s looking like that will be remaining moving into its 6th year of ownership.
I’ve been saying for 2 years that I will be selling my motorbike. Next year I will get round to doing it.
Happy New Year to everyone on PH.

Pretty simple for me - actually use my cars more!
I've done 200 miles in my Morgan since July (it used to be my daily and do 2.5k PA).
I've done 600 miles in my MX-5 since I bought it 6 weeks ago.
The aim is to try and double my mileage.
Also, I have been working on seeing all 50 US States and am over halfway there. I have another 2x big road trips planned there this year, which I guess counts as motoring plans as each year I typically do more miles in the USA than UK, despite only visiting there 5-6 weeks a year!

Car wise not much I suspect. I am expecting to change jobs. Currently I work from home but new role will be office based. I did think I would need to buy a second car but my wife thinks she can manage without one (daughter grown up so not having to ferry her around all the time). A relief as we only have garage space for one car and it would have been me who had to defrost the car every day. Not to mention the extra cost and hassle of running two cars.
I don’t see a reason to replace the Golf. It is boring but exceptionally competent and pretty much ticks all the boxes (except excitement and desire!)
I bought a K6 Suzuki GSXR 1000 a few months back, which I hope to be able to ride a bit more than I managed this year.

Retiring, or at least retiring from full time shifts next year, so depending on what i do for part time work (known too many long term truck drivers drop dead shortly after retiring completely) will probably sell the Forester on.
Probably keep the Prado which is 20 in a few months time, its time i changed all the transmission oils again so a bit more work than the annual rustproofing top up.
If we decide to replace the Prado too then either a Suzuki Swace (better value Corolla estate) or Rav4 hybrid are the most likely choices.

Get the SLK out of storage and put in Matthewsons auction
Donate the Primera to a car museum in Taunton, if they want it, if not put in auction with SLK
Sell the Audi TT
Continue to trial the Mini electric (working out very cheap to use at the moment)
Get the Karoq serviced, deer head butt scar fixed and continue to use
Leave the two Aussie V8s alone in storage

Definately to complete the restoration of my Elan and put it on the road!
I made fantastic progress in the first 2 years but weirdly hit a wall and lost my mojo (a big house move didn't help) - it's 85% there with all the hard/expensive work done, just need a final push to complete it.

I badly want an Elan, always have but never quite got round to it and now they’re valuable!
I’m aiming for a static 2025 in terms car transitions, all being well!
Mrs Cloudy would like to replace our family car (Jaguar), but I’m reluctant to put more money into a new car when this one fits our needs - and as it means she can be closer to retirement she is onboard with the idea!
My 360 was meant to only be for a year, but 6 months in, I think it might stay a while yet as still enjoying it.
Camaro, servicing in a few months and get to some more events hopefully.
My main project for next year is to try and make some more car related videos as a bit of a hobby.

Probably continuing with the current level of procrastination...
Short term, possibly offload the 90's retro nonsense I bought prior to Christmas as I'm just not feeling it then the sheddy Volvo has an MOT due in March, assuming nothing terminal happens I'll likely just keep it going until the bitter end as my wife is now using it to commute and it'd being used a wee bit more lately as a general usage car.
The Transporter I bought last June hasn't really had as much use as I hoped, as in trips away / biking etc and it's needed some work lately so hopefully get more use from it this spring in that sense... and then it may go as there's mutterings of more trips abroad as the kids are now of an age where it's less stressful, plus there's mutterings of house moves and mutterings of seeking new employment.
I still have an underlying desire for something sort of "do it all" like an S4 Avant / Legacy Spec B to run alongside the van. Also keen to get back to the Scottish islands and also visit a few Nordic countries, which I'd happily drive to however wife is less keen so will see how it pans out.
Where's that chrystal ball...

Couple of new (to us) cars sat in garage so planning
Late summer Tour of northern Spain, Galicia and Northern Portugual
Mid summer tour of Alps / Alsace region
Like to get to Goodwood FOS and a Bicester Scramble in 25
Did want to revisit Monaco GP but brothers wedding clashes, always something every year.

Two main ones for me.
Compete in the Curborough Sprint Championship, i'm in the academy class for my first year so that should be fun.
Get the 205 back on the road and enjoy taking it to shows and bimbling around the countryside in it.
Undecided on whether the Cayman will stay but we will see.

I actually contemplated a CN Elan that was for sale locally recently but decided it had to be the real thing.
Do you have a build thread for your Elan?
