The PistonHeads app is here - download it today!

Your motoring sidekick optimised for your pocket. We're just sorry it's taken so long

At PistonHeads, we’ve been helping you buy, sell and love performance, premium and collectable cars for more than a quarter of a century. We’re the No.1 dedicated marketplace in the UK, so whether you’re looking to buy or sell via classifieds or auctions, you can be sure that PH will help you get the most eyeballs on your car. Or if you just want to chat about your car online (plus many other things) and come along to our events, we’re the largest online automotive community too.

But enough blowing our own trumpet; we have an announcement to make. One we should probably prefix with an apology to all those who have dreamt about tapping the smiley on your smartphone’s home screen to browse your dream cars, only to wake in a cold sweat that it wasn’t a reality. An apology to your friends and loved ones for the considerable amount of time you’re about to spend sat on the toilet browsing our marketplace like never before, and we apologise for how often you’ll be plugging your phone in to charge. That’s right folks, the PistonHeads app is finally here.

Sure, you’ve been able to browse the website on your phone up until now, but now that experience has been supercharged. We know what it’s like to miss out on that dream car you’ve been waiting for months for – now with the PistonHeads app, you can get instant saved search notifications as soon as a new listing goes live. You can also get notifications when you’re outbid on an auction, so you don’t miss the opportunity to seal the deal on your next purchase.

You’ll find exclusive app-only competitions and a personalised content feed. Download the app right now, and you can enter our giveaway for a free set of Michelin tyres, exclusive for app users. Join the UK’s largest online car community and you’ll get a personalised home screen, seeing relevant cars for sale, car news, reviews and events, all tailored to your preferences. It’s like going to your favourite burger joint and your order is already served on the table with a cold beer. But better.

Another app exclusive is our trending tab within marketplace search, so you can keep an eye on the most popular cars right now. We have expansive filter sets to help you find exactly what you’re looking for, so you can browse and buy to your heart’s content. You’ll be able to list your car for sale in our classifieds or apply to sell by auction all in one place.

A note for our forum users – while the forums are available in the app, we’re rebuilding the forums from scratch next year, so watch this space for a fully optimised new forum experience in 2026. So whether you’re looking to buy, sell, or just share your love for cars, you can find everything you’re looking for all in one place on the PistonHeads app. Welcome home.

It could do with a back button. If you’re reading a long thread in the forums, the only way I can find to go back is to scroll all the way back to the top to find the thread title and then click on that.
Otherwise it’s what I’ve been waiting on for ages. I like it!

Could we have a "share" button as well? Unless I'm missing it which is also quite likely!

App is great, but I’m wondering what the “we’re rebuilding our forums in 2026” means at the bottom of the article.

Whilst the current forums can be a bit clunky, they are a fantastic store of information over a long time. Please be careful on the rebuild!

yes
Please PH tech geeks, don’t fk things up like so many websites/forums do when making “improvements”.
Simple is best for the PH forums - do your fancy, funky, appeal to the youth stuff on the app if you must.

I agree there are many valuable things about the forums.

However there are also things that could be improved. For example, I think that if the existing messages were on screen while composing a reply, there would be fewer misunderstandings and more pertinent responses. So its not just fluff, but a better interface could lead to better interactions.

Agree, think there are some things that could do with some attention. Having to upload images one by one drives me mad too.

Overall exciting - and the app is a great start, works well!

Why do you need user location information?

Are you referring to classified listings? It's there, just on the bottom right hand side of the image, so may be a little difficult to see depending on the image.

We've announced this elsewhere but ultimately the technology the forums sits on is becoming redundant in 2026, so we'll be rebuilding them next year. We'll certainly be consulting the community very closely as part of this thumbup

For the love of God, please make backups. And backups for those backups. And a third backup for good measure laugh

I shall have to start looking through my photo library to select a suitable avatar. I know it will get many likes and be upvoted numerous times.

Please no, no more algorithmic feeds. it would be the death of the site.
