Unexpected foreign numberplates
Discussion
What’s the most unusual foreign number plate you’ve spotted in the UK? I’ve seen plenty from the usual places — Ireland, France, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, and quite a few Turkish ones.
But on a recent visit to Diddly Squat Farm, I came across an Indian-registered car!
So, what rare or unexpected country plates have you come across?

Just imagining an Indian police officer trying to read that out quickly over the radio during a high speed chase! But on a recent visit to Diddly Squat Farm, I came across an Indian-registered car!

Furthest away I've seen is a car with a Singapore plate on it (no photo unfortunately).
With that and the Indian number plate, they may not have actually driven it here - it could be someone who's in the process of moving here and has brought their (right hand drive) car with them but not re-registered it as a UK car yet.
Closer to home, but more confusing was when I spotted a car with a Gibraltar numberplate. Unlike the Channel Islands and Isle of Man plates (which I see fairly often), they are in exactly the same font and colours as the UK numberplates. They have a different combination of numbers and letters though. At first I thought I'd misread a Northern Irish plate.

Have seen a couple of Australian plates here (Berkshire) recently, assumed they're people moving over and had the cars shipped. I did wonder how insurance works for them.
Occasionally see US plates and always assume they're US servicemen from an airbase.
Saw a Portuguese one recently - not that weird of course, but it was on a new EV Renault 5, so they must have taken their time getting here, charging on the way, unless they started in northern Portugal and used the Bilbao - Plymouth ferry of course.
Have seen a couple of Serbian artics lately, seems to be a recent development having trucks coming here from that country. I've been the unexpected foreign plate (UK) myself in Serbia, Bosnia and Montenegro recently - not many people drive that far down the continent from here it seems.

In the 70s i worked with a bloke who came back from Libya when the oil field he'd been working on caught fire. He brought with him his Saab with Libyan plates and drove around happily in it for a couple of years knowing his plates were illegible over here. When eventually he was stopped for out-of-date plates, he asked the copper how he knew. The copper said he'd worked on an oil field in Libya.

I'm pretty sure there's some sort of scam going on in Nottingham.
There's maybe 25-30 Kuwait Or Saudi or the like registered cars buzzing around the city. They drive as fast as they like, park anywhere & use the bus lanes etc. They are mostly top of the shop models.
