Renault scenic 2010- exhaust issue
Discussion
Hey. Just looking for advice. I'm driving around Spain at the minute and my exhaust came loose a few days ago and was dragging on the ground.
Roadside assist came and took me to a garage. The exhaust (and the big casing it was attached to) were removed and found to be rusted. I was told just to drive on and that it wasn't needed.
I sent a picture to a friend who knows about cars and he says that the whole exhaust has been removed and needs to be fixed. He recommended a tail pipe instead of an entire new casing and pipe. Given the car is 15 years old and will be scrapped at the end of my trip is this what I should do?
What does fitting a tail pipe entail and is it straight forward?
In the meantime I'm driving around with the windows open to avoid fumes entering the car- is this what I should be doing? Are there any other risks?
I'm trying to get the car fixed asap but a lot of garages are too busy and my lack of Spanish coupled with their lack of English is proving a nightmare.
Any advice gladly welcomed
