Hi good people here, I’m moving abroad and want to take my G87 M2 with me hence looking for car exporting options to Japan. I know it doesn’t make economical sense but both me and wife want to keep it with us. Has anyone or your friends ever used a reputable car exporter to ship car from the UK to Japan? I have friends able to deal with all the import stuff when car reaches Japan so I just need someone to ship it to Japan. Would really appreciate it, the last one I contacted weren’t keen on responding to emails hence I don’t have much confidence in them. TIA

Really? Can you not get another M2 in japan? It would be so much easier and cheaper.

Or take advantage and get something properly JDM out there.

I understand all these, car got some sentimental value to both of us. We are aware of the total cost and willing to do this.

First port of call for me would be someone like JDM Auction watch, Torque GT etc to see if they can do their service in reverse - they have the advantage of local staff in Japan and experience with the freight process.

I used Kleerfreight for import duties in the other direction, I note they're now part of someone else, and they say 'Import & Export Customs & Shipping' in their logo, so might be worth asking them if they can do the export from the UK side

Talk to Twinwheel logistics in Essex.

I delivered a car to a Japanese couple, their own car in Japan, imported and duties paid, and registered.

Not sure the dealers who one way import could be bothered tbh.

A specialist personal import export company will help.

I actually called Torque GT and they kindly gave me a name but the exporter ignored me after initial response. Not having much confidence for that tbh. Will try JDM auction watch, thanks!

Check to see if your car meets local legislation - it may not be road registerable in Japan without modifications.
