Hi all,

I know just what everyone wants to see another what car thread!

I'm 19yrs old and have 2 years NCB, at the moment I have a Corsa C and to say its
not the best driving experience is a slight understatement.

I wondered if anyone had any sort of an idea for fun car, I don't mean that it has to do
0-60 in 2 seconds etc. Just something that you can take out on Sunday and enjoy a drive round the countryside?

It doesn't have to be practical or good mpg etc. as I cycle to work so will only be used during the weekend.

I don't mind it being old and is pretty much what I am expecting, although nothing to ancient as I don't have anywhere to
work on it as I just moved into a flat with communal parking.

With sale of my car and my savings ill have around £5000 to put towards the car and insurance.

Sorry to do another what car thread.

Thanks

Ben

This.

Integra type-r if you prefer coupes.

Also, MX5, MR2 etc.

Bare in mind that for any of these cars, five grand is going to have to be split 50/50 between the insurance and the car!

Westfield?

MX5 is probably the best option – £5k is enough for an excellent example.

How about a classic car? Seems perfect for some weekend driving!

Cheap on insurance even when your young
Easy to fix yourself
Cheap to buy car and parts
Fun to drive
Will not 'lose' value!

I bought a 1975 Triumph Spitfire recently in excellent condition for a bargain £1900. Never had so much fun with a car and I have driven/owned the classic hot hatches!

I'm a classic convert!

Lots of good ideas and dont worry already looked at plenty of mx-5s but I cant get insurance under £4500 frown

which is pretty similar for most of the cars mentioned but thanks keep them coming smile

I think classic might be the way to go but I heard you cant get them on a classic policy till 21? Is this true?

Honestly, wheni was 19/20 i was looking at all of the cars i listed arelier, the insurance was silly monry for the clio/civic but the focus was less than half price on the insurance

And mine was modified to 204 BHP, was a lovely car

Insurance companies love focus's

I've heard conflicting reports about this.
As for standard insurance, have you tried adding a female named driver? (mum)

Early '90s 1275 Mini Cooper?

But one again, the insurance could be a killer.

When I was 18 in 1984 I bought '73 MGBGT, and the inurance was pretty managable, just can't imagine being quoted £0000s for a hatchback. frown

I think legally he "may have reason to"
