Been looking into these as a new family wagon, mainly the 530i as seem mostly available. Sold our freelander 2 recently paid a chunk off the mortgage but am in need of a new car. Only use the car two days a week so fuel shouldn't be to much of an issue. Anyone on here have any experience good/bad, potential problems, things to look out for when viewing and anything thats a must spec wise?

Also does anyone have any alternatives that i probably haven't thought of?

Around 5 -6k i think thats plenty. Think id like a saloon but am not adverse to a touring if its the right car. I just feel the saloon would make me feel less old im only 26. Also think id like it in an auto as i can do some mega miles in a week in works van and just don't always feel like putting to much effort in at the weekend.

From reading the blog on his profile, this looks like a wonderful example. I'm 22 and would happily smoke around in it.

That really is the fvkin nuts and if that description is accurate (no reason to doubt it) you NEED to snap it up. They just don't crop up in that nick very often at all.

Economy will not be that far off a 530.

Rather odd. Not seen a sat nav like that before and must say it's not in the safest position for looking at while on the move. And, more importantly, it's nicked the cup holders!!

Lots of missing pixels too.

Get that 540 bought immediately!

His profile shows dates of entries etc. and he seems like a genuine guy from posting on the smoker barges thread about it. If I was after a 5 grand auto boxed family car it would be the first I'd look at for sure.

It's an aftermarket fitment. It's got really crap spec - cloth, manual seats, standard steering wheel etc.

I love my E39.

Totally fails at the cheap to run car thing, mind. My profile details my costs.

I agree seems like a genuine car and would also be pratcial with the massive boot as i could still put my dogs in the back if it comes to it. It is the other side of the country from me tho, i live in cambridgeshire. Last v8 i had was in my chimaera couple of years ago

When i sold my 540 touring the chap got a cheap flight up from portsmouth to leeds and had a pleasant drive home.

The guy selling it is on here a lot and seems a decent chap. If i were in the market i would ask for a few more hi res pics, have a chat on the phone and book a flight.

You honestly won't come across a touring v8 like that any time soon. They are pretty rare.

Also make sure it gets up to normal temperature too (so needle in the middle). The thermostats are known to give up. Simple (cheap) fix though
