It seems that Auntie has really ruffled the feathers of well-known electro-cate Kryten, aka Robert Llewellyn. They did a real-world trip using a Mini-E electric car, from London to Edinburgh and after the four days it took to get from 'darn there' to 'oop there', they worked out that the electric wunderwagen managed the heady average of 6mph... yes - SIX miles per hour!!

The Llewbot was not a happy bun bun, posting this on his blog:

Kryten said:
Why did the BBC choose or allow Mr Milligan to make this absurd journey, who’s editorial decision was it? What is their motivation? ... BBC news have shot themselves in the foot in their eagerness to belittle and undermine a now rapidly emerging and disruptive technology. It’s worth reading the comments at the bottom of BBC page. It proves I am not alone in my suspicions of their motives. The only possible explanation of their need to do this daft prank is to please someone powerful within the BBC. I truly don’t know who? Do you?
The Register have a particularly good write up
The BBC's original story is here
Robert Llewellyn's Blog has a fair crack at El Reg, as well as the original post he made

Of course, this being finger on the pulse I'm heavily expecting to be castigated as a reposter, but I haven't seen it and I thought "it were rather funny!"
