Fabie VRS TSI?? how good??

I currently own a 1.6 Ibiza SC and im looking at upgrading, since buying the Ibiza ive been smitten with the bocanegra in White

however now they are almost 18k for a nice one ( i am in PCP contract so new ones are what I have to get) im struggling to think the Outlay is worth it.

so

been looking at the VRS, currently VAT free so 14500 in decent spec and by all means just as good a car, does anyone have one of the new TSI's what are they like?? however, the 'SKODA' basge is putting me off... i know they are VAG and have been for a while, but Skodas name still has that poor sort of

"you have a skoda" thing...

Am i being stupid... should i just think sod it, or is the extra money worth it for the bocanegra??

Excellent cars tbh - VW with a different badge. Once you start driving it you'll soon laugh off the 'It's a Skoda' stigma. They've been good for a while now..

Read the DSG gearbox thread a little down from this one, and do a search on the VAG forum.

Ther're nice little cars, but the gearbox dominates their character, do if you don't get on with DSG, yo may be disappointed.

see thats what Im thinking, booking a test drive will probably be the best bet...

its still just you can guarantee someone will say what car do you have... a skoda fabia VRS.

whats one of them, arent they rubbish...

The platform may be the issue with the TSI/DSG, not what badge you have on it, I would say it's the least you should be concerned about. That's not to say you won't like it, but like me, you might not.

I wish I had read a few of Balmoral Green's rants before I got mine.

I had a test drive of a brand-new green fabia VRS hatchback recently. A very nice car that could really shift, but I didn't like the seats and I didn't like the level of engine noise that could be heard in the cabin so I went for a nearly-new Octavia VRS instead.

wow some interesting reading there! I guess Im gonna book a test drive and try every setting out! wouldnt want to be stuck with it hating the 'box. do you think it would be the same in the bocanegra?

Very true but sadly, from the sound of it, VAG know how to fk up a potentially good car

I went to look at one over the weekend as they're cheap as chips at the moment and very impressive on paper. They look good too albeit understated. Being a usual VAG hater I thought I'd be fair and give them a chance but from what's been said (both here and in the press) I'm beginning to think I should stick to a manual. I stupidly thought that the DSG could be a good move but I've now heard too many horror stories. Fuel consumption doesn't sound great either.

Like I said go test drive one, the dealer over in Gillingham was really good... You will either like that box or you won't. Read the bloody DSG v Manual thread and i'll give you the direct e-mail of the guy i dealt with at work tomorrow...

As for the Skoda and having to explain its a VW... Do you really care about the opinion of those that don't know that already... Kinda like asking a certain man we know on the merits of various deodorant brands; would you really listen to that smelly bd?
