I'm reasonably in the know with this era of Ford, but never heard of this before. Google only reveals this advert, an thread with an out-of-date advert and nothing useful. Has anybody on here heard of them before??

Nope, it was a real model but they were made in extremely limited numbers. That's all I know about them, mind. I just remember reading about one in Fast/Performance Ford once upon a time.t stuck to it.

I think you're talking about the RS1600I... By far the closest the MK3 ever got to being a classic IMHO!
The RS1600i was a little less garish, and actually quite an attractive looking car IMO.

Sorry, I jumped to conclusions!.... I agree the 1600i's a tidy looking motor for the era, although I've heard rumours (I've never driven one so that might be all they are) that the RHD versions had awful brakes!iva cosworth said:

Aah yes, of course! I remember an absolutely beautiful white RS1600i local to us not too long ago, with the black stripes and it was lovely. There's a S1 RST lurking about somewhere at the moment too, though I fear that might be a restoration project now. full length bodystripe and bonnet stripe so not the best looker.
