Portsmouth, truckstop or greasy spoon

I will be heading towards Portsmouth on Sunday, via the M3/M27 and aiming to arrive around 8AM, I'm looking for a place to top-up my cholesterol reserves whilst keeping a beady eye on the motor.

Can anyone please point me in the direction of a suitably 'basic' eaterie?

No fixed cameras. My only points came from BiB with a handheld on the A3 whilst 'testing' the turbo on my MR2.

A bit out of my way! I'm coming from the West Midlands, via M40, A34, M3 and M27. I will have a loaded roof-rack and be towing a trailer, so the lure of a swoopy road is not enough to tempt me that far east

Here's hoping the burger van is open at 8!

Bizzare! Had a tip about Sizzlers in North End, Googled it to see if they are open on Sunday, and now the post has vanished. Are there any elves about ? Thanks, whoever, still looking to see if Sizzlers are open on Sundays.

Avoid the A3M for the next few weekends, they are doing roadworks and was horrendous this weekend.

Micks on top of the hill should be open, could try the burger van at Hilsea, not sure what time they open though

He he!! In all fairness, I have lived in Southampton all my life but some of the best times I';ve had on nights out have been in Pompey! Still smells of wee though (I have to say that, I'll be lynched by the Southampton knuckle draggers if not!)
