Depends on what you call fast. IMO quick, yes but fast no. But then to most, my cousins E46 M3 is stupid fast.
If they are anything like the GTR's, then I'm sure you can tune them to buggery though.
The only time I lost a drag race in my old E55 AMG was to a tuned R34 GTR, and I would bet that it would have been the same in my 997 Turbo the bloody thing pulled away so quickly.

lol imo a e46 m3 is quite fast, and my brothers got a 996 turbo and i think dats the fasteset car ive ever been in that scares the s
tee out of me lol i know gtr v specs are the daddys, but they cost 20k plus, im playing with a budget half of that, ive been after a 330ci sport but i know ill end up gettin bored of it eventually, so the little voice in my heads telling me a evo, scooby or skyline, i dunoo im lost now
lol

£10k budget, hmmm I'm sure you can pick up an early E46 M3 coupe for that much? Don't quote me on that though.

lolIn my opinion, if you think that's a fast car, I think it has a far better image (although they are falling into some dubious hands lately) than the skyline.
Also, if it's of any concern, I'd rather pick a lady up and take her somewhere nice in the BMW than the Nissan, and I'm sure most of them would agree too

And a couple of M5's too - can you tell I like my german cars?
yea ive seen quite a few 10k m3's for sale, but tbh i think 10k wont buy you a mint m3, im sure theres some gems out there but its just finding em whats the prob. id much rather play it say and pick up a 330ci convertible and prehaps save some dosh for insurance. would you say the r34 gtt is any comaprison to a m3? i know it'll probaly smoke a 330ci sport for brekie, but hows it compare to a m3?????? and your right mate the girls love a nice bmw lol, but i'd rather scare the hell out of em in a evo or skyline looooll

Shirley the little voice in your head should be proof reading what you are typing out and the giving you sharp brain pains for your inability to spell and punctuate correctly?

Can't answer the question as I've never even sat in a skyline before, let alone the model you're talking about. What's your priority - the fastest out and out car, regardless of image?
I tend to really dislike anything with a boy racer image to be honest, hence my dislike for the jap stuff!
£10k buys you a nice Porsche 968

If insurance is a concern, forget Skylines. If running costs are a concern, forget Skylines, tuned ones especially.
As standard 34 GTTs are nippy, not fast. Very tuneable depending on how deep your pockets are, and they can be made very fast. Personally I'd rather drop an RB25 into a 200sx but to each their own.

Evo's are well fast init though smoke a 330 easy. lolSeriously though, how about a VX220 or an S2000 since you mentioned cabrio. Neither will stay with an M3 in a straight line but the S2000 is much cheaper to run and will rev to 9000, while the VX220 will be an occasion to drive every time and since they don't come with stability control the girls will be much more impressed by your drifting skillzzz.
In 2008 when the Yen was weak, I very nearly bought a 1999 Bayside blue GTR with 60k miles on from Japan. It would of cost just £16k, but I would of had to leave it until 2009 to register it to save about £2500. I opted on spending £18000 on a 54 plate Carbon black E46 M3 with just 38k miles on, and didnt regret it at the time. Now GTR prices are strong, it would be worth far more than I would of got it for, as it was I lost £2500 in 6 months on the M3
