Low flying birds..........
Discussion
......not what you were expecting?
This is about, the six or so near misses and one direct hit to my windscreen from low flying birds, just in April alone.
I've never known anything like it in my thirty years of driving. I can only think the early warm weather is give them suicidal tendencies.
Make them stop please.
Because of the early dry spell worms and stuff are harder to find so more birds are relying on insects to feed their young. The pocket of air in front of your car disrupts the insects flight path making them easier to catch in flight. So you will get more birds flying in front of you as you drive in the warm weather.

Well, they can find plenty of insects on my 'screen. Covered in the blighters.I have to admit the animals on my current commute do appear to be more stupid recently than before. I travel on empty country roads to work and as such I often give the car a bit of a shakedown. Occasionally I'll come across a rabbit or a bird in the middle of the road, they normally tended to get out of the way fairly sharply. However this past week I've squashed a rabbit (I wasn't going to stop for it and I didn't really have anywhere else to go) and clipped a bird that just wandered into the road having stayed in the verge up until I was about ten metres from it.

Hit them all the time (in my train!) Nothing wakes you up like a bird hitting your window in the dark :-)
that supposed to be a joke?
My pigeon tally is quite high so far this year!

I remember getting smacked in the face by one (feathered variety) when out on my Suzuki 125, should have had the visor down.
Then there was the mess a pigeon made on the front of my Corolla, (with apologies to our very own pigeon on here) stuck between the bonnet and the front panel, YEUCH!
Oh, and there was the chicken that literally disintegrated in a puff of feathers!
And the pheasants......bloody stupid things.

Driving in Poland last year I nearly had a Stork come through my windscreen. Like Geese and Swans I guess that they can't just go straight up but need to gather some momentum. The road was running through a wood so it had no other choice then to use the road to take off and so it decided to do it into the face of oncoming traffic which just happened to be me.
It was a very odd moment as it took me a while to work out what, if anything, was coming towards me and it passed so closely that I did actually duck.
