Hi all,

Looking at getting a new car in a couple of months looked through that many adverts for cars its sending me insane.

Budget is going to be about 7.5k all saved so no finance here smile

Would look at cheaper alternatives but just wanting to get some fresh ideas.

Previous cars i have had usually last me about 3 years, upto now had golf VR6,DC2 integra type r and a clio 172 cup also driven a Elise S1, Impreze type R 3dr, FN2 CTR

So looking at something either at one scale or the other has to have abit of poke

Not to fussed about insurance groups as i'm 27 coming upto 7 years ncb or not to bothered about mpg as i only do around 80 - 100 miles per week.

Upto to now i think i'm set on a c32 amg but let me know of any suggests please.

I know where I'd be putting my money. It wouldn't get you into a facelift like the picture posted, but you'd get into a nice 400 for £7.5k.

Even though it's from Merseyside, it's not nicked, the current owner has looked after it very nicely and it's a great car for the money (not mine I may add but I do know of it. And the owner)

Genuine car this one....

quite.

Saw loads of breakdowns on my little trek to the midlands and back earlier. Not one of them was an Alfa.

Plenty of german metal.....

Thought they were badly built or is just this an old wifes tale?

I am now guessing this doesn't relate to the newer models?

There's not an ounce of truth in it, at least not in my experience. All 3 of mine have been impressively solid and reliable.

Over the years I've probably owned close on a dozen different alfas (including a GTA of the 156 variety up to last year), 'old' ones and newer (90s) ones and the ONLY time I have been left stranded was when an ECU packed up.

And that was a BOSCH Motronic unit so not exactly 'Alfa' is it.

It's an old wives tale. And a f*****g pathetic one too. The woman that lived in a frickin shoe is more realistic.

Then again, I do have and have always had my cars well maintained.

THE worst and without question most unreliable car I ever had the misfortune of owning (thankfully briefly) was a brand new Golf VR6. Pile of s***

Boxster S, there is a lovely Red one in the classifieds that is under your budget.

Very capable as a daily, quick enough to entertain, talented enough to flatter your skills, and almost at the bottom of its depreciation curve.
