It WAS an E36 3-series BMW.

Probably a 318i.

Is it true that BMW engine swaps are dead easy as most engines are designed with mounts to fit most engine bays?
Seen a few 3 series convertibles with the bigger lumps that 'drop straight in'.
I know nothing at all about BMWs, this is a genuine question.
