I was on a challenge to get to the top of Mont Ventoux, France before my friends who left the same time as me at 04.15hrs on Friday 13th May (bad omen)from Farnham they traveled by car, plane, Mini bus and then road cycles to the top of the mountain. I had 723 miles to do by car eurotunnel and I was well ahead of schedule to beat them. But a moment of red mist and then blue lights put pay to that - gutted.

I was caught last weekend speeding at 195KPH in my 997 Turbo.

Needless to say I didn't win but got a 750euro fine, licence taken from me and a court case in November. I had no passenger so couldn't go anywhere. The nice policman offer me his friendly taxi freinds to drive me and my car the remaining 400ish miles to Ventoux for 1200 euro or 650euros to Luxembourg - do we think they get 10%

Anyway another Brit was also stopped with me (we weren't racing officer - honest) and he had a passenger and two other mates in another car and they kindly leant me one of their passengers to drive me the rest of the way as they were on their way to Monaco (nice chaps) my driver was 21/22 years old and i think he had died and gone to heaven to drive a 997 Turbo all that way (he had a large grin on his face for many hours)

So the question is does any one know the answer to - can I drive in France before my court case in November as the nice policeman was very vague! It's just my family holdiday in two weeks is a motorhome driving trip and yes youv'e guessed it in France. The wife is threatening to damage me or the 997 if i don't come up with a solution.

Help please! This never happens on Top Gear with their challenges

You do realise the Top Gear challenges are faked?

In fact, you do realise you're not Jeremy Clarkson?

Looks like a year in the slammer if you get caught driving without your license.

Looks like the wife's driving the campervan, I'm sleeping in a tent and the 997 might get some abuse!

If it's your motorhome, you keep your nose clean and out of trouble, you will be unlikely to be stopped. If you are, expect "beaucoup de merde" to come your way.

If you are renting a motorhome, get your ass on lastminute.com and some jewellery for the missus. wink

Have you got the number of the 21/22 year old? Does he want a free holiday? Slip him between you and your Mrs and the job's a good one.

Seriously though, if you can find someone to drive for you, you can pay for B&B for them as you go along - as a student I would have done something like that for free.

A free holiday would be enough for me but a threesome too?, how very generous hehe

on a serious note, the holiday is before the trial, so legally, you haven't done anything wrong, yet, have you?

ie in uk, if you are caught doing the same speed, you can drive till your trial, then you lose your license...

I'll drive the camper for you but I'd need to see pics of the wife first.

Tell the DVLA you lost your licence then don't speed (or don't get caught) in the camper.

Does your father have a brother called Robert?
