''This is my Ferrari the police crushed unlawfully!! It has taken them almost 1 year to release the video, I wonder why??? My car was insured, and I was the owner. They went behind my back and removed a court order that was imposed on the car without notifying my self or my legal team, although the police was put on notice that if they were to go court, they had to inform us first. They failed to return my car so I had no choice to take the officer to court. So we put them on notice to attend court, in return the officer went to court behind our back a few days before the hearing that we arranged with them and removed the car from the court order and destroyed it the next day!!

I saved my ass off to buy this car and it was of sentimental value to me and my family. The police had no right to do what they did and it is very sad! This money could have gone to a good cause, as a Ferrari broken for parts is worth more then the car as a whole! We pay our taxes and In return the officers act like this in a public office!''

Is that convicted rogue landlord, insurance fraudster and chop shop operator Zahid Khan?

If so couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

"The money could have gone to a good cause". Shame he wasn't in such a generous frame of mind at the time of buying the motor.

No question the former owner is a complete and utter scumbag but would the police have made such an example had he driven an old banger? Of course not. The police should be taken to task. This was an asset they could have sold irregardless of it's history - the engine and gearbox alone would bring 25k+ 2nd hand.

As someone who lives in Birmingham I can assure you that anyone with that sort of car in 'Sparkhill' is going to be about as legit as a £100 note.

It's about the roughest area going - and is known for violent gang crime between drug gangs. The police will have 'targeted' him because they know he's about as dodgy as they come.

A quick google: https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-new...

He's one unlucky chap. His business had an arson attach just a year ago. And the comments are rather telling.

Honestly if you know the area you'd be able to work out what sort of character he is.

He must be very unlucky - a few years before he was kidnapped: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2610127/Ga...

Along with being a cat B (bodyshell should be crushed as per ABI code of practice) it was reported as being made up of suspected stolen parts.

Don't think the Police had any other option really.

Assuming they could find a registered breaker to buy the thing the risk would then be there of selling on stolen property.

Oh I'm not sure. You could take your pick from at least half a dozen sthole suburbs around there; Sparkbrook, Small Heath, Bordesley, Nechells, Aston, Lozells, Handsworth.

Of all the inner suburbs of Brum, i think the section from Edgbaston to Harborne is the only bit I'd be comfortable driving through. As a student I spent one summer holiday temping at the social services office for Sparkbrook (Greencoate House on Stratford Rd). My god that was an eye-opener. It put paid to a lot of naivety I had about other people's lives!!

The 'taken away and crushed' applies to all the cars they seize, banger or dodgy supercar.

The Police are not in the business of breaking cars for profit, especially ones with dubious history and they should be applauded for actually taking action and filming it for maximum publicity effect.
