Vehicle Reg number letter DVLA

Today I received an odd letter from the DVLA
"we have a problem with the record we hold for the above vehicle registration number"
I have been asked to provide both front and rear reg plate details, vehicle VIN and engine number and most recent MOT certificate number, make model and colour.
They say not to take information from documents, on-car information only.
I've got all of this from the car, which matches all paperwork I have, only thing I don't have is previous service receipts as they were awol when I purchased from Pentagon Derby 21st Feb 2020. (everything else present and car is clear on HPI check). They have sent me the V5C and all information is correct on there too.
I have searched for this issue and found no results. Has anyone had this before?
I can't do anything until tomorrow until the DVLA are open but if anyone has an idea as to what this could be?

That was the first thing that I thought when I saw the letter. There has been licence plate theft at work, my colleague was victim to this.the first part of the plate is FH15, which is Nottingham way, and this was registered first in Derby at franchised ford dealer.

Thats genuine address, but general reply centre.
My guess is there is a query on the vehicle record, could be something or nothing, or could be they think there could be an issue (like clone) from which they need to check the vehicle as best they can, by photographic evidence.
Try and send the info back asap, doubt you will get much out of them by telephone, but worth a shot, would also let dealer know about the letter and perhaps chase up with a telephone call in 10 days or so.
To be fair, had it been a definite issue with your car, the police would have been knocking and not a letter from DVLA.

I had similar - I got a letter from DVLA asking me to confirm a bunch of details
Turned out when they introduced computerised MOT first tester typed the vin in with one letter transposed from what was on the car - this error was repeated several times until the most recent MOT at the time when the tester clearly typed the correct number in
I had all previous paper MOT's
They all matched the reg doc and the number on the vin plate as well as the chassis stamp
Had a s
t load of bat and ball letters with them - in the end I sent a pencil rubbing of the vin plate and they stopped arguing no idea if they corrected the MOT's that were wrong
The annoying thing was while all this was going on I couldn't tax the bloody thing

Spoken to DVLA, apparently there is a discrepancy between my vehicle and another from when this or their other car was registered. They couldn't give any more information but once they have the required information a new log book will be issued.
I'm guessing based on the above comments that someone has entered some details incorrectly at registration or on an MOT cert.

Be thankful they're not trying to charge you a fee of £25 to fix whatever issue they've discovered with the details they have on file.
When I bought my Fiesta ST, the DVLA sent me a letter instead of the V5 saying they needed me to send in a V62, and £25, because the dealer had informed them of an error. The DVLA wouldn't tell me what that error was because of data protection. The Ford dealer confirmed that they had done no such thing and after several weeks of arguing on email and the phone the DVLA finally admitted they'd made an error their end, but only after I'd sent them the confirmation of change of owner details their own website had given the Ford dealer.

Entirely genuine, I believe it's part of their covert investigation into cloned or stolen cars.
I bought a Honda Civic for my daughter a coupe of years ago and exactly the same thing happened when she tried to tax it for the first time. They wanted loads of photos, copy of the V5 and receipt from seller before they signed it off as OK.
