So far I can think of the Rover 75/MG ZT and the fifth-gen Toyota Corolla that were offered in both front- and rear-wheel drive guises within the same generation.

Are there any others you can think of? Struggling a bit here...

Stretching the title a bit - the 3rd generation (2000-2014) Transit came in FWD or RWD.

I seem to remember the Ford mechanics converting one from FWD to RWD in about 15 minutes as a live demo on the press launch. Pretty impressive stuff.

Can think of a lot of cars that were FWD and 4WD in the same gen but drawing a blank on RWD/FWD.

That Mk3 escort doesn't count as it was either 1 of 2 prototype RS1800Ts or an aftermarket Gartrac conversion

Ah remembered one, Clio V6 and regular cooking spec - Bugger, Scrump beat me to it

Pretty sure that one old generation of Corolla had FWD saloons and a RWD coupe?

5th generation E80, according to Wikipedia. The regular models were FWD and the AE85 and AE86 (Sprinter) were RWD.

Oh, already mentioned by OP.

To illustrate the difference, heres a video from 13 years ago of my dad in the V6 and my uncle in the V8, otherwise identical looking ZT's arsing about.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2sf58KoemM&li...

The V8 was sold a fair while back and my dad still has the V6, still looks like a new car.

I thought that the 21 was either FWD or AWD. But it was odd in that, depending on the capacity it came with either a transverse or longitudinal engine.

Gosh, no-one told me there were rules.

It’s a factory RS1700t, 1 of 18 produced:

Yes, this. With slightly different wheelbases too - you can see the difference with the distance from the front wheel arch to the door IIRC

I stand corrected, it was the different engine layout that confused me
