Anyone gone back to living without a car?
Discussion
I’m about to move and will be living in a city. My small, but expensive, apartment doesn’t have any parking and I suspect free on street parking won’t exist. So it looks like I will be living without a car for the first time in about three decades. It isn’t in the UK so at least public transport is good.
Anyone else managed to go back to not having a car?

Sort of, but not quite. My wife and I have had a car each for 40 years. Mine usually a company car. I retired 14 months ago and was going to buy myself a car, but after a few weeks of cycling and using public transport (London), I decided not to bother. So I do have a car when needed, but don't drive it often. Most days I survive easily with no car.
Last week I rode to meet a mate in a pub about 6 miles away. Just after leaving my house I was passed by a Jag F Type, roof down. He got stuck in traffic and I passed him. Traffic cleared and he passed me again. A mile down the road there were temp traffic lights, with a huge queue, so I passed him as I rode to the front. He passed me again but I caught him in more traffic. Eventually, he passed me for the last time when I was about 100 metres from my destination.

This may be a reality for me soon too.
Following lockdown, furlough, and eventual life changes, I've found that the car I used to cherish and daily is sat on a driveway and seeing no use whatsoever - I've driven it twice this month, for quite short stints (less than 30 miles combined).
It's only a mk1 TT, but it's quite fun to drive and before said life changes, I would take it on long journeys and generally 'daily' it (not so much daily, but as good as).
I now do most of my work in central London, and it's literally a chore to drive there these days, so the car is very possibly going to be up for sale soon, and for the first time in 15 years I will not own a vehicle.
This is mostly due to cost; I am not flush and would like to think selling said car will give me a little cash injection to figure out some future plans. I will be quite devastated to see it go, but needs might must. Sad times. At least the city's public transport is effing terrible, that'll help matters for sure
