Autoaid - any good?

I'm looking to renew my breakdown cover and the usual suspects (AA and RAC) are pretty much the same price to cover both our cars. This is approx £149.

Any other recommendations for nationwide cover?

I’ve used AutoAid for well over a decade, and always had good service - including picking me up from Bedford Autodrome after engine failure on a trackday.

I should add that I’ve not had a need to call them out for about 8 years so can’t comment on recent service.

I bought AutoAid for my parents - free spouse cover etc.

If you have to buy AA/RAC, then buy via Quidco/TopCashback to make it roughly half price. Don't renew and just switch between them each year via a cashback site.

Another decade plus user here. Most recent call out was two years ago for flat battery; as per previous experiencs it was smoothly handled. Phone up and a local garage turns out, so usually fairly quick IME.

I don't feel i need a breakdown cover yet.....
But mate has been an AutoAid customer for many years and also had to use them many times, he says they are brilliant




I now expect one of my cars to fail me today...

I spoke to them about this and i am fully covered.
2x old cars, 14 year old van, 5 year old bike, Mrs Markys i20.
Called them out once and got my 20 year old Focus home all for the princely sum of £59 pa.

No comment on Autoaid but it might be worth having a look at adding it on to your motor insurance at renewal time. I tried a quote on my last renewal out of curiosity and it added £20 to the annual premium. I was really surprised as I thought it would be loads more than that. Admittedly it is only basic recovery but it prevents a big tow cost if you get stranded on a motorway. Turned out the cover was through RAC too.

Yup, same here.

Called them out last year when I needed a tow from home to my local garage.
Local chap turned up with a low loader and all was good.

Been with them two years, used them once.

Clutch gone on the Mrs Panda. Turned up (well a local indie) within an hour. On a truck, no fuss, straight to Garage.

Great service. none of this we will send a van first nonsense, like the RAC when my gearbox went Kaboom....

AutoAid are to me, exactly what you need with a breakdown service.

They’ve been fine for my friends that use them.
The only reason I don’t is that my bank account provides AA as part of the package - usually I’m not a fan of these ‘premium’ accounts but travel insurance, phone insurance and AA for £8.99 a month is much less than each product would cost individually.

Got my money’s worth this year - ZS180 decided to destroy a waterpump in Wales (recovered 120 miles) and iPhone 12 Pro damaged beyond repair and replaced without fuss.

I signed up for my daughter with Autoaid because of the excessive cost of AA/RAC. I did not appreciate ( maybe my fault) that a) This is purely a recovery service ( no roadside repairs/ get-you-home fixes) and b) a £25 surcharge for cars over 10 yrs. Thus, not as cheap as it seems, though as the problem was an elderly flat battery, maybe less expensive than one of the 2 big players changing it on the spot!

I’ve had roadside repair for a flat battery from Autoaid before.

I’ve just used them again this weekend because of a broken spring and they were brilliant. Did everything they said they would and kept in contact. Couldn’t have been easier.
