Like a lot of people on PH, I love a good hot hatch. I've learned a hell of a lot about them here too, so I thought it was about time we had a thread to share some hot hatchery bargains.

If there's one thing they prove, it's that you don't need to spend a lot of money to have a lot of fun. So keeping things under £10k, what have you got your eye on or spotted recently?

This Clio 172 in Flame Red looks stunning – and a hell of a lot of car for £3,449 https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/13581129

Over to you!

Lovely, rare phase 1 306 GTI-6 in seemingly unmolested condition for £7k.

https://click-uk.rubrikkgroup.com/cars-vans-for-sa...

No MOT on it, so presumably the seller will address it for that sort of asking price.

One of the best B-road cars I have ever driven, even to this day.

That looks pretty tidy! Not that I've ever owned one but I've always thought that a Focus ST with the 2.5 lump is a lot of car for under £10k if you can find one that hasn't been abused https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/13441762

Loved mine. Was modified (essentially with the Mountune catalgoue of bits) but not abused. Not the last word in handling, but bags of character despite the "ASBO" reputation. Plenty of tatty ones about though.

I would include my Fiesta ST, bought a year and a bit ago for 8 grand, but I have made a point of not adding it up but I think we are now about six grand in and looking at LSD's....

£10k gets you a lot of good stuff!

CTR https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202205316...

Megane 250 Cup https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202206096...

E8x 130i would also make the list, but I can't find a nice manual for sale.

I've been a massive RenaultSport fan for many years and still own a Megane 225 and a Twingo 133.

I've owned other Megane 225s and a couple of Clio 172s and all just put a silly smile on my face.

I must admit, I'm a bit partial to the previous generation of Fiesta ST as well, the 1.6 turbos. Just look like they'd be a laugh and I think that's the right hot hatch ingredients.

I love the phase 1, having had a cossack grey GTi6 when I was younger........I would love another. That particular one has been listed on various sites for ages.....Not to mention the fact it's probably £3k overpriced (hence appealing to investors/collectors/true GTi6 fans), it appears they couldn't be bothered to properly wash it, repair the bolster, fit some mats, fit a rear wiper cap or indeed remove the awful union jack number plates....I wouldn't hold my breath that you'll get an MOT on it from a seller like that....and probably has other niggles / issues too.

Sorry I digress.....aside from a GTi6, I think I'd probably go down the route of an EP3 Type R....possibly a Mk5 Golf GTi manual.....

At the cheaper end of the scale, I couldn't believe that you can pick up a 2008 Suzuki Sport for under £2k now.....I reckon with a few minor little hop ups, that would be a cracking little purchase for nipping around town and the occasional spirited country lane drive.

For that money I'd be hunting out the best RS Megane I could find, or the nicest and most factory standard 3rd Mk5 Golf GTI in either red or white ..... preferably with the 17" wheels.

Absolutely love that yellow on any hot Renault. Is it Liquid Yellow?

Bought for £9K 1 1/2 years ago with 14K miles. Suzuki garage offered me more when I got it serviced the other day, even though it was at 32K miles. It does me and I think it's fast enough for the road if you use all the revs and its a great daily.

Lad I worked with had a Visa, about 1992 I think, probably the last one I have seen. He was an apprentice, and not the brightest.

Came in one morning, his Visa had scratches all over the roof, crushed mirror and generally ruined.

Turns out you can’t reverse a Citroen Visa round in circles at full pelt in a car park…

, had some great fun in my twingo tonight , really enjoying chucking it into a few corners on a favourite B road , 130bhp is enough power , although saying that could do with a tad more sometimes for a single carriageway overtake .

I can't get my head around paying £10k for an EP3. Maybe that is what they're worth these days, but nah... I can still remember that horrible artificial steering to this day. Especially not when you can get a very tidy 172 like in the OP for a third of the price. I test drove an EP3 when I had my 182 and decided to stick with the 182, despite the CTRs superior performance and drivetrain, it was just less fun overall.

Now... I'm not into hot hatches at all nowadays, but if I did ever go back there, that Megane is lick Always loved those.

Still enjoying my Fiesta ST3.

Bought 2 years ago for £9k and probably worth around £8k now.

It's difficult to know what to replace it with, especially if going for another hot hatch. The RS Megane is just about the only (affordable) car I would consider an upgrade.

I hated my EP3, the rubbish electric steering completely ruined the car. I don’t think it was that much quicker than my Clio Trophy either. The perfect hot hatch for me would be a Trophy with the type r engine and gearbox though!

Been a while since I saw one of those
