I’ve recently found myself stuck behind lots of what I would consider poor drivers (doing 20 in a 40 zone; crossing the central line; not indicating &c.) and noticed they seem to have one thing in common:

one of those ‘bee’ stickers (I’m Manchester-based).

This got me thinking: what else do people notice on the cars of ‘bad’ drivers? Is there something ‘good’ drivers also have in common..?

Probably biased here, but I don’t remember seeing a Jaguar being driven poorly…

Over to you PH!

Not sure that this is 'on the car', but I give you: Driver so small/low down that he/she/they etc is invisible from behind.

Any car with a "BO55" as part of it's registration number.

Yup, particularly when attached to an old C-Class with all windows dark tinted and battered black alloys. Usually to be seen steaming down Lane 1 of the motorway then cutting ahead of cars in Lane 3 to gain 20 metres advantage

A forward facing dash cam is a good indicator that the driver is about to do something stupid.

Usually really old people or chavs (chav s3, golf R, C63 or chavs like pick ups) are driven badly.

Driven normally/well: porsche, volvo or exec type cars.

Good point on the Porsche front.

I’m struggling to recall even seeing a poorly-driven Cayenne…

Of course, there are exceptions to the rule, young man.

Audi and BMW drivers are the worst for indicating.

Steer clear of any car with a butchered numberplate. Any cockwomble placing vanity and narcissm over driving especially by illegal means needs a very wide berth.

I don’t think I can pick out any particular car as an indication, but you can tell a lot more by positioning etc. I agree it’s rare to see a Porsche driven badly. I did see one do a ludicrous overtake the other day, but more the exception than the rule. If I had to pick two out it be Range Rovers and 2 door Mercedes (invariably black and white respectively).

Mercedes A180d. Especially if it has black wheels. Seen some shocking nonsense got up to in them.

Just "posh" enough for the driver to feel entitled, just cheap enough that a lot of people can get a PCP.

Anything italian will be driven better than any vauxhall, renault or other boring things.
Unless it is a pink Fiat 500 of course.

Bad drivers "bobble" - I'm not sure exactly what causes it, but when you look at the car from behind it's always bouncing around on its suspension to some degree. If I had to take a guess I'd say it's the driver making lots of small, sharp corrections rather than anticipating where they want to go and what the road surface is doing, and letting the car travel in one continuous arc with consistent suspension loading.

Agree about Range Rovers, but I find base-spec, PCP-type Mercs (A class and GLA) far worse than anything else with the 3-pointed star.

I have to disagreed regarding Jaguar. Followed a Jag saloon through a few roundabouts & junctions & the driver negociated every one in the wrong lane.
