Hi, been browsing around for a while, and thought it was about time I just asked in the hope someone might have some info.
Bit of backstory, I've been a biker for 25 years with a penchant for most petrol related things. Unfortunately, a year ago, I chose to argue with the front of an oncoming car and, predictably, didn't fare very well. I'm currently still recovering but most of my injuries are fairly well recovered apart from the spinal injury that paralysed my right leg. It's basically left me in a position where I can walk using a locking KAFO orthotic leg brace and crutches for a very short distance, before retreating to my wheelchair for longer jollies.
Anyhow, to the point. I have a motability car on order but it is massively delayed thanks to covid/chips/Putin etc and I'm researching hand controls to fit our current manual car, has anyone ever come across this situation whereby someone can use the clutch and gears comfortably but not the throttle and brake? I've googled and youtubed the question like a mad bugger but so far not much joy.
TIA! Sorry for the sermon by the way.....

A friend of mine has a left foot throttle in her automatic Corsa due to injury to her right leg. The pedal folds up out of the way so can still be driven as normal by her boyfriend.

Pretty cheap modification by a motability specialist, but I'm assuming wouldn't work with a manual car. Could be worth the cost of selling and buying an auto though.

Yeah, that's what's happening with the motability car that we have on order, left foot throttle in an auto. Just looking to do something in the short term, as we may not see the new one til next year.....

Yes Aaron Morgan in the Compact Cup now racing in British GT. In his Compact he had a setup where the clutch lever was on the gear stick, although he had pure hand controls for the throttle and brake.

Its difficult to see his right hand on the brake and throttle controls but will show the clutch etc. Also shows what incredible skill the lad has!

Sounds like standard push/pull handcontrols would be ideal for this.
My ones are the right hand side of the steering wheel, with push to brake and pull to accelerate. They don't interfere with anything else, so I can't imagine it would be a problem to add them on.

There's a long list of the adaptions types, and the companies that offer them. That'll be the best place to find a decent company local to you.

Alternatively, you can buy 'temporary' hand controls (that you could use on a hire-car for example), this may be a cheap and easy way also.

I've worked in the Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle industry for a good number of years so have quite a bit of specialist knowledge!
Yes, hand controls can be fitted to a manual car, if you let me know what part of the world you live I may be able to suggest an installer.

Brilliant, cheers. I'm down in East devon. I've tried unique mobility but they gave me the 'can't be fitted to manuals' spiel.

I saw a car SOS episode from the current series (season 10) recently where what they did with a Cavalier 4x4 was off the scale for a disabled chap. They out sourced it, so it might be worth finding it and contacting the producer to see who they used?

Most of the installers have some sort of national cover...

Try these...

See how you get on.
