Burgundy and emerald as exterior colours
Discussion
What happened to rich burgundy/"Wildberry" in Bentley speak and emerald/lawn green (think malachite green in 1990s Bentz)?
Nowadays all cars are only available in reseal white or black, or mid-grey at best (I am looking at you, Cupra).
Who owns up and confesses to own a malachite green or wildberry car?

My lad just bought a 2001 Micra (K11) in some weird purple colour which actually looks quite nice.
Colour code is AW7 - Burberry Metallic.
It's a 2 Door, 1 owner, 35,000 miles, all original.
He already wants to change the wheels and lower it a bit and maybe one day fit a turbo. I'm not usually one to modify cars, I like to keep them standard, but I think the Micra could be really nice with some subtle changes.

This is my shed lexus. Colour is Toyota 'black cherry pearl / bordeaux'
I wasn't sure about it when I got it (bought on condition not on colour) and thought it was a grandad colour (especially with the cream leather and wood), but it's grown on me.
As you say, you don't see many cars in this colour anymore. But maybe there's a good reason for that :-)

I worked briefly at an ex-Nissan dealer way back and I remember we bought 30 pre-reg Micras in an assortment of colours (mainly white/red) including a funky purple colour, which I think was called cassis (as in the drink). The cars were priced really cheaply compared to new and soldColour code is AW7 - Burberry Metallic.

very quickly, although it was the purple ones that were last to sell! I like them as it suited the “bubble” shape, but definitely an acquired taste.

That colour looks absolutely great on that car, as it would on a Jag or a Bentley.I wasn't sure about it when I got it (bought on condition not on colour) and thought it was a grandad colour (especially with the cream leather and wood), but it's grown on me.

How about a Ferrari 275 GTB in a similar colour?

He should leave it as is. That way, he could have another 20 years of trouble free motoring ahead of him. And the K11 Micra is just the perfect car anyway. Considering the youngest ones are now 20 years old, you see thousands of them on the road. No other car from that era survives in those numbers. Colour code is AW7 - Burberry Metallic.

Thank you! As you say I think it suits the character of the car well and it has grown on me during my ownership. You rarely see any other LS430s these days and most are silver or black. Agree with you on Jag and Bentley. Forums | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
