Weird blob on wing, not overly happy but then again I’d rather them not mess it further!

Do you have the same on the opposite wing?

Ask the people who sold it to you.

If I received a new car with that on I'd not be happy.

There’s no way I’d accept that on a new car.

Looks like a mark caused by a jet wash nozzle to me

Rejecting a car based on one mark does seem to be a bit much.
They’ve offered to paint it but if it doesn’t rust I’ll
Accept the £200 compensation.

Do you feel lucky? £200 won’t get you far if it rusts.

It’s a defect. You didn’t sign up for defects. I wouldn’t accept the car personally.

Without wanting to state the obvious, but to your question of will it rust - is this damage definitely on a metal (steel) panel, as opposed to some kind of plastic / fibreglass / aluminum panel? If unsure, you could use a magnet to test - if it sticks it is steel and will therefore (eventually, assuming some level of galvanization) rust.

Also - do you expect to keep the car beyond the anti perforation warranty, which is normally much longer than the normal warranty?

I'd definitely want it fixed myself, but on the surface an offer to paint it seems reasonable to me... (for all you know there could have been other marks they have corrected before delivery that you'd never know about at this stage).

If it was your new car you’d be totally zen about it I’m sure. hehe

That is a weird looking blob.

Is it damage? Or is it underneath a coat of clear lacquer?

If it's underneath the lacquer then I guess it wont rust.

I'd not be happy with it either, but with such a long wait with many new cars I'd probably accept the compensation and get it done at a bodyshop that I knew would do a top job.

Although they need to offer you more than £200 if it's a rear quarter panel.

I'd expect that to be corrected regardless. If it's a steel panel it is very likely to be a ground zero for any rust starting on that wing.

Needs sorting.

Is it some sort of tie down strap that has rubbed it in transit?

A focussed image would be nice. A smart repair would probably make it go away. Shouldn’t have been handed over like that.
