There are big loads, and there are BIG loads.

Thought to be one of the biggest loads on British roads. In pictures. So wide it's being carried over the central reservation in places.

The heavy transport stuff is fascinating. I don’t mean the usual oversize caravans on the back of a lorry, but the properly huge/heavy stuff that usually ends up with a police escort.
The planning that goes into it must be immense, there was a large silo/cylindrical load being carried in Germany(?) in recent years, it seems the camber of the road caught the planners/driver out and the whole thing toppled over on its side. There’s a video lurking somewhere on YouTube. The recovery effort was even bigger than the original journey plan.

That's very cool!
I've experienced massive mining trucks taking up both lanes down the Eyre Highway in Australia with escort vehicles, and I've seen a paper rolling mill squeeze under a railway bridge my just 27 mm, and I've even see (very close up) the Royal Marines RIBs heading down to Castlemartin...
... But I still can't work out how a Challenger 2 tank on a HET gets through St Petrox, Pembrokeshire.

Is this a very elaborate set up for a "your mum" joke?https://news.upday.com/uk/in-pictures-widest-load-...
I remember the first ever steered trailer i saw. This was mid to late 80s on Sheppey before the Queenborough bypass was built which meant this thing had to negotiate the traffic lights at halfway crossroads. The load was a complete roof truss for a large industrial building and the trailer was steered manually by a man on a seat at the back of the trailer.Correction it was early to mid 70s.

Literally this game in a nutshell The planning that goes into it must be immense, there was a large silo/cylindrical load being carried in Germany(?) in recent years, it seems the camber of the road caught the planners/driver out and the whole thing toppled over on its side.
