Budget aside-new performance car or brilliant reimagining?
Discussion
I keep seeing amazingly accomplished and expensive reimagined cars, some quite beautiful- Eagle E-Types,Singer and Tuthill Porsches, even manufactures Astons and Bentleys.
At the same time the world moves on. At 74 I saw many of these cars in my youth and loved them.
Personally I would far prefer a very modern car or a car that was brilliant in its time-
I have 992RS on order which will be a fraction of the cost of a Singer and if I wanted something really exotic I would prefer a Carrera GT, or for nostalgia maybe an Alfa Montreal or a Maserati Mistral of the like.
There is no right or wrong here but what would you choose and why?

I always loved Ferrari Daytonas as for a few years in my youth they were the quickest cars Autocar and Motor magazines had tested.
Lamborghini Miura looked pretty special too - but I'd like a Maserati Bora because it's different!
I can't get excited about new cars of any type, but that may be an age thing.

I like cars that were great in their time but prefer them to be original and not reimagined. Thus, while I recognize the extraordinary workmanship in a Singer for instance, for that kind of money I would try to get a Carrera GT ( might be a stretch).
I still get excited by some modern cars and ignore the rest. No auto shows or the like any more. Not big on nostalgia so I still search for the new.
However, I will draw the line at EVs that do to really interest me.

Normally, i'd say somewhere in the middle. somewhere around 2000-2010 is the era of stuff i'd likely be interested in.
but if you forced me to have either a 900bhp, electrohybrid ferrari or a 300bhp restomod, i'd probably prefer the restomod.
i might make an exception if the new performance car is naturally aspirated with no hybrid or turbo assistance. a lamborghini huracan, or a porsche GT product, maybe.
