Hi,
I have recently purchased a brand new T Roc R on a PCP deal unfortunately the car has been in VW for the past 6 weeks with a Oil Pressure issue I have only owned it 7 weeks. It has now come to light it needs a new engine and turbo hence the rejection. The paperwork has been completed by the dealership but everything is so painful and the customer service has been horrendous anyone have any experience ?

Couple of years back I bought a used BMW K1600 Bagger bike, had about 1500 miles on the clock and less than 12 months old. I had it 4 months and during a tour round Scotland discovered it was using a lot of oil.

I'd bought the bike from a dealer in Bristol but took it to my local BMW dealer in the NW to look at the oil issue. After a weeks investigations they decided it needed a full engine rebuild. I spoke to the selling dealer by phone and email and had the full purchase price back within a month and they collected the bike from my local dealer.

Your case sounds much more straight forward and I should imagine you have a cast iron case for rejecting it and getting your money back.

Your 30 days right to reject extends by any time your car is back at the garage for repair.

Get onto citizens advice, it's a free service to consumers, and they'll explain it all to you, and even point you to template letters on their website for you to copy/paste.

I hope VW sort your rejection quickly, and easily, for you.

Bmw went into ignore mode on me, and it took 7 months.

My wife had a 2 week old Golf Tdi that ate its own engine. Dealer wanted to fit new engine. Rejected it and replaced with identical new car.

A friend of ours has a different car rejection problem.

Last Sunday her husband died. Today, her birthday, there was a delivery from a local dealership, his birthday present to her, a brand new EV.

She doesn't want it as she's taking his body abroad for burial and is likely to remain there. The dealership won't consider taking it back as they will only deal with the person who signed the deal, her husband...

How long ago?

You should report that to the FCA

OP you say 'the paperwork has been completed'

Do you mean the vendor has accepted the rejection in writing?

They haven’t even put me in a identical courtesy car mate it’s a bog standard Skoda Kadiq ( nothing against Skodas) and had no offer of a replacement car or a deffered payment or even the difference between the two cars. Just been left to rot a new engine could be months and they couldn’t care less just hope everyone has a look at this thread to just consider options when buying from VW.

Unfortunately VW "customer services" are atrocious-nothing but disinterested and toothless. They'll make all the right noises, but do bugger all and refer you back to the dealership, saying they're empowered to resolve problems. All very well-but the reason you're complaining to the manufacturer customer services is probably because the dealership are useless!

I love my Up! GTI but hate VW so much, it's extremely unlikely I'll buy another VAG product.

OP I suggest 'Pester Power'. Phone them 3 times a day, every day... Get under their skin and be a pain in their exhaust pipe. Crude but effective.

They are playing for time - don't let them

Why don't you just let them fit a new engine and drive the bloody car you've ordered? It's all under warranty anyway.

Why would you car that has already shown itself to be a dud already? Just save the pain and return it.

I'm wondering this too. What's the difference between the engine and turbo they're fitting and the engine and turbo it had from the factory? Presumably it's under warranty?

Reject if you want, but then be prepared for a 6 month wait for a new car. Meanwhile they'll sell "your" car over list price to someone who wants to skip the queue.

If only every manufacturer would perform such admirable civic duty... If they'd all fit duff engines in their tt tractors or mini SUV's (socially unacceptable vehicles) then perhaps people would buy proper cars biggrin

Seriously... Hope it's all sorted out soon for you - I wouldn't ever fully trust it even with the engine replacement, and for how much money you have to sink into brand new cars these days (even fairly uninspiring ones) a bit of peace of mind is the bare minimum that should be expected.
