Little victory party

I just got a Dartford crossing penalty charge through the post today. I have been wondering if I would get one because I paid a day late last time over. I was double irritated when it showed up because I did go to the trouble of setting up an account which had a balance to cover many crossings but they closed it during lockdown due to lack of activity (no st!).

Anyway I rang them to see if I could avoid the charge as I had paid, albeit a day late, and the handler waived the charge because it was my first contravention.

Since I was on the phone, I asked them about the balance on my closed account. £16.33. They're sending me a cheque!

Nine minutes on the phone and a net swing of £51.33 cool

Moral of the story, if you're one of the 78,000 motorists who has had an account closed, ring them up and get your money back!

Yeah I once called them with a late payment and they waived the penalty for a first offence - and were very nice on the phone!

Such a surprise as at the time I was trying to overturn a bus lane contravention PCN from Southwark council… a car had broken down in the main lane, we were all using the bus lane as the only alternative to go round it… but no. Ticket stands. wkers. Total and utter wkers.
