Black box question

Hi,
If a insurance company fits a black box in the car under the passenger glove box, will they know if it gets disconnected for 1 hour or a short time?
Would it just show that the car is off to them?
Or when the car is off does the black box still work?
Thanks
Why would you want to disconnect it?If a insurance company fits a black box in the car under the passenger glove box, will they know if it gets disconnected for 1 hour or a short time?
Would it just show that the car is off to them?
Or when the car is off does the black box still work?
Thanks

Just ring them and ask if it’s ok to disconnect. If a insurance company fits a black box in the car under the passenger glove box, will they know if it gets disconnected for 1 hour or a short time?

No doubt if you told them your car was undergoing major repair work and that the battery would be disconnected for X number of days, they would understand.
Also no doubt that if you did that and then subsequently were involved in an accident whilst supposedly off the road, they would - legally and financially speaking - rip you a new hole...

Out of interest how does one go about track days with these things fitted?
You don't. If you want to do track days, a black box policy is not for you. But I guess 99% of black box policies are sold to young drivers in low powered cars, who don't do track days, so it's not an issue. Forums | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
