Cars you have owned but not liked by other drivers
Discussion
About 20 years ago I had an early LHD Smart as a local run-around. I noticed a distinct lack of respect from other drivers, things like not giving way, being cut up at the lights and stuff like that. I recall thinking at the time that is was a car disrespected by others.
At the moment I'm driving a black Range Rover Vogue, I really hate black but in the 2nd hand market it is the most common colour and difficult to find anything else. Once again a seem to have a car that others disrespect, my driving style has not changed, it just seems that other drivers don't like black Range Rovers!
Over 40 years I have owned 20+ cars and cumulatively driven over a million miles and in that time it is just these two that stick out as not liked by other drivers, it got me thinking that others might have experienced similar driving discrimination. Have you?

Try making progress anywhere in a Rover 75; people see you coming and instantly pull out in front assuming you’re going to be a glacial peasant.
While they’re lovely wafty barges, there’s no denying that they don’t score very highly on the 2022 street-cred’ ladder and are looked down upon by just about everyone. Shame really.

Yep, had a smart car and people try to bully you.
I have a full fat Rangie, people don’t like you in those.
I have had the coffee beans w
ker signal when sitting in traffic in our convertible 911 roof down, literally just sitting there.
In my Twizy people seem to smile or laugh but don’t bully like they did with the smart?

very unpopular around these parts, but we had two Citroen picasso's (2.0HDi).
The first one I drowned at 150,000miles or so, the 2nd went to similar mileage before being traded in.
Oddly decent car, never had any issues with either of them. Utterly hated car by most people though.
I recently added a C4 Grand Picasso. It's surprisingly good. Quite refined, goes and brakes fine for a normal car. Had plenty of more premium and supposedly nicer saloons and SUVs before but this is arguably better than all of them. Skoda Fabia vRS, the mk1 diesel. I would drive about normally and people would go berserk if I overtook them. Would get people suddenly accelerate and tailgate or just drive dangerously if I went past them with no issue on the motorway. It was very odd. Triggered some people by its very existence and I have never worked out why.

This was quite hard work at times.

But nothing like as bad as this where people are desperate to pull out of a junction in front of me, then proceed to get in my way...

I can't believe anyone other than pedestrian would have got in the way of you towing that ridiculous tin tent. I can understand people wanting to be out in front of a Range Rover though, they're often badly driven by total oafs; the sort of thing that you want to get clear of before they hold you up. But nothing like as bad as this where people are desperate to pull out of a junction in front of me, then proceed to get in my way...

Out of 22 cars two stand out for negative reactions.
One was a Citroen berlingo, bought as a utility car for mountain biking and taking stuff to the tip, it seemed to attract tailgaters and people would pull out in front of it with alarming regularity.
The other was a BMW X6, not an easy vehicle to get let out of a junction in!

People were told to dislike the X6 by the motoring media imo. One was a Citroen berlingo, bought as a utility car for mountain biking and taking stuff to the tip, it seemed to attract tailgaters and people would pull out in front of it with alarming regularity.

I really liked it, 300bhp so it was fast enough, handled well and did everything I wanted.
Now early X6s are practically subtle compared to a lot of stuff on the road.

Nothing comes close to my blue Subaru wrx.
Hated by my family, friends and every other road user.
A shame because they really are great cars to drive.
I didn’t know how hated they were until I bought one.
I did not know that they were hated. I guess they were geezer / yobbo cars for a while but generally a petrol head car?Hated by my family, friends and every other road user.
