Hi all, wondering if anyone has haver dealt with a situation like mine...

I am taking to London an imported Audi S8, D4 version. Car is from 2014 and was registered in UK in 2017.

Upon putting the car on my TFL autopay, the system recognised the car as ULEZ compliant but NOT "LEZ" compliant.... Technically means 100£ every time i want to drive the car.

I went to check the V5C and to my surprise it doesn't state the emissions amounts nor the Euro class...

To me it doesn't make sense that a care meets requirements for ULEZ and doesn't for LEZ.

Don't know what to do, been trying to speak to TFL but unsuccessfully

Anyone?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

I thought the LEZ only applies to HGVs and other commercial type vehicles.

Your V5C won’t have the emissions data on it because your car is an import. When new and first registered in the UK it would have had a manufacturer declaration as to the emissions, this won’t be available for a car imported and registered used.

Low emission zone is the one that starts between the m25 and a406 and only applies to vans upwards, unless you have a link we can see that states otherwise?

And if cars do apply then I probably owe them thousands hehe

If the car was imported from within Europe then you can get a Certificate of Conformity from Audi. You can then send that to TFL which should make the car show as LEZ/ULEZ compliant.

I agree but none the less TFL autopay system states the car is not compliant... so don't really want to take the risk!

This sounds really stupid but check your V5C - what have they categorised your car as? I’ve had a lot of JDM imports and the accuracy of data entry is appalling. My current US import Corvette is listed as a ‘3 speed manual’ for example.

Free and easy to check they haven’t done something as stupid as listed the car as a van.

Great! It usually takes about 10-14 days from you sending it to them to it showing as compliant on the website

Same as my TVR .... No emission data.

Hence why it won't be compliant.

Not dealt with it, as I've no intention of driving it into a emission compliant zone , Birmingham in my case.

I know some motorbikes were having issues in London, and there's a testing station that can test the output of the exhaust, and if it passes that info can be used by TFL to get it off the band list.

Although I would have thought the actual info from the manufacturer would be sufficient, but we are talking TFL here.

Or wait till it's historic, then not an issue.

123DWA is correct. Friend of mine had the same issue with a year 2000 Boxter. Porsche supplied a document of compliance, which he uploaded to TFL & they responded within 2 days that they’d confirmed compliance. Bound to be errors in such a huge database, even before you consider vehicle upgrades, versions, component changes & documentation corrections rolled out across multiple countries with multiple standards.

Should be straightforward, but fingers crossed. CF

Very bizarre. The D4 S8 is Euro 4 compliant, therefore LEZ/ULEZ complaint. CO2 emissions are 225g/km in tax band 'K'.

It's pointless trying to call them and get through to a fed up idiot in a call centre reading from a screen. I'd be contacting DVLA to seek official confirmation and correspondence, and request that a referral is sent through to TFL to confirm that the car is complaint.
