Looking to insure the daily, a 22yo 'future classic' and have had the following quote from Adrian Flux for a fairly normal insurance policy, plus an additional policy to add agreed value.

Insurance Premium £380.00
Additional Policies £40.00
Total Payable £420.00

For the same car Confused.com has both AXA and Esure quoting around £235 Premium for the same cover without agreed value booster policy, which is about what I would normally paid. The boost policy from Flux is however not available stand alone.

Obviously need to do more shopping around, and will be ring A-Plan and maybe others tomorrow. But any thoughts on how best to focus efforts welcome as between a full time job, 9month old child, house renovation etc time is in short supply!

Car is a E46 330ci, but in good condition, gets all it wants for and each service. Bilstin B4 shocks, PilotSport4 tyres, new wings and rear arches, missing trim replaced, new balast and osram xenons etc. I don't really know it's market value on a good private sale and will need to work this out, but it would almost certainly a lot less than 'bool value' whatever that is, and be very hard to replace like for like. Do about 10k social and commuting a year, plus currently around 5k business miles sadly.

All thoughts welcome.

If you genuinely feel that the car is worth above market value and that it's worth the agreed value that Flux has quoted you at, then their quote being £190 more than a normal quote at market value is reasonable and could save you 10-20x that in the case of an accident.

Given you have limited time to shop around, which may only result in a £100 saving, unless money is that tight, personally I'd go with Flux unless you know you can definitely afford to set aside some time to go and find that better quote elsewhere.

Agree with the above; for me, it really has to be shown to be work more than above market value...

When I had agreed policies on my previous Japanese import E39 touring and on my current Japanese import E39 540i Sport; I had to take lots of pictures; send the projects I had for them on Pistonheads etc and also find links to as close as possible of similar cars (which there were hardly any etc) and then and only then would Chris Knott & AF agree to the agreed valuation via their underwriters etc

I'd say I wouldn't waste my time with your E46; not being disrespectful, but it's not that rare

But if you absolutely feel its worth a lot more than the other examples of the 330i; then seek out similar examples on eBay/previous sold on ewBay, AT, PH and Gumtree etc and see what yours could be valued at

Yeah, absolutely. And I don't really know what it is worth, or what the market would value it at.

For the reasons above, I've also not done a a lot of looking at classifieds yet.
As said, there are other examples of the 330 coupé out there, so that would be a start. I don't know how you find out it's market/book value is likely to be either.

I didn't pay mega money for it 7 years ago when I bought it, but even then it was a nice example above market condition as Nd price.

My biggest fear is it ends up being written off after a minor 3rd party bump, because the market value says it isn't worth a new bumper and a grands worth of paint which it would be.

Obviously it's all about protecting yourself against risk. But five years of paying an extra £200 is a grand.
