Anyone else looking forward to the World Cup?

Least anticipated World Cup in my memory.
World Cup to me is a festival atmosphere, beer gardens, big screens in the park, music, thousands of fans traveling to the host country.
This has none of that, and to top it off, the event is generally accepted as a product of corruption which probably makes it even harder to fancy.
I'm sure the football will be entertaining but otherwise, it's looking crap so far.

Totally agree. I’m no moraliser normally, but total corruption, thousands of migrants dead, and such a disregard for stuff like any gay rights - can’t really show any enthusiasm for this World Cup. I'm not a great football fan, but would have watched some of the world cup in the past.
This year most definitely not...
We have a SuperBru comp at work and I was in 2 minds whether to enter or not. I did in the end as there is money going to a local charity, but I still won't be watching any of the matches.

Sport is generally ruined by politics and I am expecting this World Cup to be a constant stream of hypocrisy from the commentators and broadcasters pretending that they care about the rights of various minority groups that are not very popular in the host nation. It was a mistake on many levels to give the World Cup to Quatar but now it is done and once the football starts I hope we can just concentrate on the sport. I really don't need to listen to Gary Neville telling me what a terrible country it is every game before he quietly banks his bloody cheque.
