We have a 2016 Citroen C4 Grand Picasso bought from the local Ford main dealer. We got a 24 month warranty with it. Car is approaching 40k miles.

We have now owned it 18 months and it has just had its second service under our ownership both at the Ford main dealer. Warranty expires in March 2023 and is detailed as a full warranty with claim limit of £99,999.

2 weeks ago adblue warning came on then next day the engine management light came on. We added the adblue which naturally sorted that light and strangely the engine management light turned off 2 days later. What we have noticed is the cars heating on the right side of the vehicle has stopped working, the keyless pull handle to unlock and touch handle to lock has stopped working on the right hand side of the vehicle and there is a judder in the dash somewhere that seems to coincide with gearbox changes.

We took it to an independent garage and on their diagnostics machine they told me it is reporting various faults for lost communication with various modules and they could not fix it only main dealer. The wife reminded me of the 2 year warranty so we are booked into Ford who sold us it and they have said they may take it to the main Citroen dealer for us ,if they cannot fix it.

I have never had issues like this or warranty claims and things like this cause me anxiety.

What can I expect, a fix at no cost to me I am guessing but what if they cannot fix it?

Otherwise the car is in perfect condition and locally probably has a sale value of £11k.

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your car.

You need to read the T&C's that come with the warranty to see what it actually covers in detail. Quite often, modules, sensors, switches etc. are either not covered or have a partial cover, depending on age/mileage etc. Diagnostic time required to find faults is also sometimes not covered or has a limit applied.

I would read the warranty docs carefully, get the dealer to confirm what they plan to do and then confirm that they won't do anything that you will be expected to pay for until they have spoken to you first.

Unfortunately these sort of issues can be hard to pin down but Citroen will probably have a better chance as they will probably have far more experience with your vehicle and any known issues.

Hope it's not too painful/expensive.
