Was it the CVT that put you off?

Hard to point to one thing but the general blahness is the thing. If I were to write a tag for it , it would be "cures excitement"

The Nissan CVT is surprisingly good - the the extent I didn't even realise my hire car was a CVT until I was looking in the driver manual! The transmission software makes it not fully continuously variable but moves in steps to make it feel like a conventional auto. Don't hold me to this but I think the Nissan drive belt "pushes" rather than "pulling".

Bizarrely, modern autos with 8 or 10 gears are virtually CVT in any event, having very close ratios.

I'll be very surprised if I ever own a diesel.

Similarly hybrids - expect I'll eventually jump straight to full electric, at least for journeys where no charging away from home is required.

Unless you are all already in your 70s or thinking of giving up driving any time soon, this is a bold statement.

A Vauxhall.

I do own a EV and recently had a Prius though! Prius isn’t a CVT but feels the same.

Which Nissan? I had a Nissan Juke CVT as a hire car a few years back and it was dreadful, the rubber band effect was horrible

Ferrari 288 GTO, which is a shame as I'd really quite like one.

Yes, that's what I thought. I like ICE cars (well, decent petrol ones), but at 34 years old I think it goes without saying that I can't keep with ICE for the rest of my driving days.
