Getting insurance back in order
Discussion
Over the years of replacing cars me and my partner have ended up being the registered keeper and insurer for each other's car.
So I am the RK of her car, and the insurance is in my name with her as a named driver.
She is the RK of my car and the insurance is in her name with me as a named driver.
Its been like this for years and hasn't been a problem until now, but she is now self employed and needs cover for business driving. I'm finding that many insurance companies won't provide business cover for named drivers, only for the proposer.
So I'd like to try and swap our insurance over so we each insure the car we use most, but as the two policies are times six months apart I am having trouble getting my head round the best way of achieving this.

It's usually not an issue for spouses (and I'm not aware that actually being married is a requirement for that to apply)
We have both cars registered and insured in my name, with my wife named on both policies. We use the cars interchangeably just based on what's been parked outside and what's in the garage, need for better fuel economy etc etc so neither are nominally 'main usered' by either of us.
We both have limited business use cover on both cars (it actually reduced the premium when we first added it) - are you trying to add business use without adding it for you too? That might be a factor.....
Failing that, just deal with the first car where the insurance renews and wait for the 2nd. Not much else you can do unless you move to a multicar policy

Just normal class 1 business cover? Wife's policy with LV even has business cover for our kids - I thought it was a bit unique as I seem to remember a palava when we first did it, but I switched to a new policy this year as it was £100 cheaper than the renewal (funny that) and it was simply a selection in the quote process.Forums | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
