I keep seeing these premium car mats being advertised but unable to find any real reviews. Has onyone actually bought a set?

Do you mean the difference in quality between cheapo car sales mats and premium quality carpet mats with nitrile backing?

Yep I bought some, the fasteners to attach to the floor were in the wrong place, despite being specifically made for the model of car I had.

Was considering the large ones from China. Diamond stitched ones, about £120 a set. Just want to find a nice set for my mondeo

That's more than dealer money for many cars, especially older ones. It's an area where I've never found after market to be anywhere near as good as oem.

They were OK, but couldn't move the fasteners without leaving a hole in the mat which kind of defeats the object of having smart mats

I've bought two sets of these for my 3 Series' and found the quality OK for the price. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009XA8OCO/ref...
Although one of the fittings in the driver's side footwell wasn't where BMW put them!

Drilling through the carpet solved that though.

For me it's OEM or Cannon Weathertech.. Lots of companies do make pattern aftermarket that have an acceptable price vs. quality.

As an example of of how easy it is to be fooled:

[Genuine with the VW part number for £89.99] VW Passat B8 EM RL Car Mats Genuine OEM 3G2 863 011 (Black RHD) 2014-2021

[Non-OEM for £36.99] VW Passat MK8 2014-2020 GENUINE FITTED Front & Rear LUXURY Car Mats Black

You are best off getting genuine Ford ones - you can find them on Ebay at a discount. I have the rubber ones for my Mondeo and they have been brilliant. Fit perfectly too.

Ford parts Store on ebay are good.
Most parts available and much cheaper than even trade. Yes, genuine Ford mats fit perfectly. I bought two sets for my daughters Mk7 Fiesta and the 'Transit' inscribed rubber over covering for Mrs D's van.
They all Inc fixings so do not slide about.
Having said that Aldi's rubber sets are pretty good, trim to fit though but at only £7 a set are cheap enough. They sometimes have Michelin mats in at £15 too.
With sales cars we rarely clean mats, we just throw them out and fit new ones, it can transform the look.
