Main dealers that fail to get the most basic of things right
Discussion
I had my 2020 Renaultsport Megane in for it's Y2 service yesterday.
I accept the need for main dealer servicing to keep the all important stamp and it's useful for updates being applied.
Local Renault dealer is pretty accommodating and the service desk guy is a fellow petrolhead who gave great customer service.
Driving today I was flicking through my displays and noticed the tyre pressures are at 3.1 bar or 44psi!
A full 10 psi over book pressure.
Now mistakes happen but FFS, tyre pressures are absolutely billy basics and it begs the question, if this is messed up then what else is?
I'm also irrationally angry that I'll have to spend a £1 at the local garage to accurately correct the mistake.

When my E39 was summoned by BMW for an airbag safety recall at the local main dealer last year the work was completed and signed off and I was sent on my way with an airbag warning light glowing on the dashboard: a light which had never previously illuminated in more than a decade of ownership.
Having checked the unit and determined that a replacement was not required they had failed to plug the airbag back in.

Don't equate 'main dealer' to experienced or qualified mechanic! I accept the need for main dealer servicing to keep the all important stamp and it's useful for updates being applied.

The guy on tyre duty is probably the apprentice, no doubt had the gauge on the compressor on the wrong setting and mistook 3.1bar for 31psi. Forums | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
