Purchased a used vehicle Early February, just had a letter from DVLA asking me to send in pictures OF REG, VIN numbers, sale receipt (don't have one) and the picture of the logbook (the old one?!?!) as there's been a discrepancy somewhere, seems very dodgy.

Anyone got any experience? Tried calling but their systems were down.

Sounds like somebody may have cloned it and there is already a V5c out there with that reg. frown You really need to speak to them.

Interesting. It was a cheap volvo s60 2.0t worth sub £2500. Got picked up from train station, invited into house etc, everything all matched up etc

Will call them again tomorrow thanks

I had this happen when I bought a VW California of someone but it happened a year later when someone else applied for the V5 . They where going to clone it or try and pass a conversion off as the genuine factory vehicle …. Happens all the time apparently

It could (potentially) also have been declared a write off or scrapped etc, that gets the DVLA sniffing about and asking for similar amounts of detail and pictures.

You best bet is to send them the information that they have requested. You can't really do anything else and until you do you won't get a V5 for it.

But I've already been issued the new V5C, very strange. I've called them and they say nothing to worry about

Standard script answer. There is obviously something amiss somewhere with something. As long your car is bonafide then I agree - you have "nothing to worry about".

Yh, sounded like I was being palmed of politely. Car isn't stolen, all vins match up everywhere, sent them what they need, let's hope it all is OK.

Thanks

I've had this before for a Morris Minor - it wasn't long after an MOT and I can only assume that the tester misread the VIN, or entered it incorrectly. Sent them everything they asked for, all sorted.

Hi all,

All is well, sent over pictures of all the VIN tags, told that their records have been updated and nothing to worry about.
