A new car is something to be savoured, typically I like to indulge myself in a small trinket to make it feel as though it is ‘mine’. In some ways I suspect my mind thinks of it like a wedding ring, carefully added to the key(s) in the belief that joy and happiness will follow, a happy union together.

I am always quick to discard the previous owner or dealers key fob and pop the shackle of my ownership on the keys, it’s a small thing, but generally the cheapest accessory imaginable. Once popped on the key, I rarely change the humble key ring, it’s a decision that will stay with me and the vehicle for some time.

I’m sure that there are plenty of PHers who take this decision with equal importance, who is proud of their choice of key ring?

Not for me. I prefer nothing on my car keys. Only one key has a fob type thing but I need that to disarm the immobiliser. 3 of the cars are keyless also - you just keep them in your pocket, so I prefer just the key.

I once spent £300 for a car key ring, and it wasn’t a very good one either. Carbon fibre but not all that light

I now have kids who are able to spend my money recklessly for me instead biggrin

I have a resqme escape tool on each set, plus a "Pull to Eject" lanyard thing on one and a red alacantra AMG tag on the other.

Sounds like you're very proud of your keyring.

Hopefully you have somewhere suitable to store it? Perhaps a nice large bowl where everyone can store their keys?

I have a key ring that is a bottle opener. Surprisingly useful when you are thirsty.

I have various key rings that are quite important to me, for one memory or another...
If a new vehicle comes with a plastic McDonalds or Mickey Mouse key ring, it has to go.
I rarely buy a new one tho', my favourite is a small, stamped beer bottle opener that was given away with an issue of Street Machine magazine way back in about 1980!

The keys to my NG TF are on the ring that used to hold my keys for my Austin hot rod. It's a simple old fashioned Austin ring, but it's all I have left of it.

My Harley keys are on a ring that some very pleasant young lady gave me many years ago, I only met her once and never knew her name, but still have the key ring.

I'm just about to make a key ring for my custom '64 Dodge van, a Chevy bow tie, in the same deep red perspex as the roof window...

A tile tag, that is all I need as I misplace them...replacement of them don't mention.

Many years ago, when I was market trading, I bought a revolving display stand full of car related keyrings.

The fastest sellers were;
Ferrari
Maserarti
Bentley
Rolls-Royce
Closely followed by;
Mum's taxi
Dad's taxi

The leftovers that ended up in the 10p bargain box included Ford, Morris and Metro.

I bought a couple of different coloured covers for my car's two keyless entry/start gizmos so I'd use them alternately. Didn't work though, I keep taking the blue one. irked

With motorbikes I could never understand owners that have hard dangly fobs that scratch up the headstock with the constant motion and vibration. Very bizarre

Traditionally, someone will now pop up to say that criminals will use this photo to clone your keys, then steal your car. yes

ETA: And, your house too, by the look of things....
