Morgan factory tour at Malvern - great day out
Discussion
I visited the Morgan factory today for the first time, what a great day out for someone who likes cars or engineering.
Great lunch in their new cafe, followed by a great coffee and a cake, a nosy around the showroom and then a 2 hour tour with a knowledgeable boffin who answered lots of questions and explained it all without being boring.
Great to see a blend of old and new techniques and see some real customer cars in lots of interesting colours.
Enjoyed it so much we’re going to go back and hire a Morgan for the weekend and explore the hills and surrounding area

I went in the late 1980s when I was a teenager with my Dad. I wrote a letter to the factory and received a typed response saying that we could pop in any time apart from lunch hour. Just ring the bell on the front door.
A few weeks later we did. Charles Morgan answered the door, very graciously invited us in, gave us a cup of tea and biscuits in his office, then took us to the start of the production line and told us to wander round and ask anyone what was happening. Fabulous experience. I will never forget that from the bare chassis to the completed car in the dispatch hall each car had a brown luggage label attached that was typed with the specification of that car. Was so interesting to read what the owners wanted, from specific paint colours, to extra bonnet vents. It looks a lot different today.
