Hi, i had a slight bump tonight while i was waiting at traffic lights , basically i rolled in to the back of someone.
It was just a slight bump and the guy i hit got out came over to me with my window down,i apologized and said my handbrake was not on on fully etc,are you ok .

He took a look at my cars front end then his ,i asked if he wanted to pull over and he just looked at me shrugged his shoulders and got back in his car (he was Asian guy and i don't think is English was good as he never really spoke) by this time the lights had changed to red then when they changed to green he set off with no intentions of pulling and just carried on,i then had to turn left while he carried on...After looking at my car i have a slightly cracked number plate and thats it .
Do i inform my insurance i have had a slight bump ,i don't want to claim for a cracked number plate as they are only £10 Not sure what to do here ...Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

No.

That numberplate was cracked before. Get a new plate.

No moral issues on this one.

Happy Easter.

No, absolutely don’t tell your insurance, it’s an excuse for them to bend you over

The other driver was not insured, on drugs and drinks, had had his licence revoked due to medical problems - that's why he drove off.

Never talk of the incident again.

Just concerned for any comebacks
I No details were exchanged,in fact he didn't really say much i did ask if he wanted to pull over i even gestured to him to do that as we were at the lights .
I assumed all was fine as he never indicated or did anything to tell me he was pulling in ,i turned to left and turned back to go were i was originally heading ..

He might have been a shed driver who couldn't have cared less and just wanted to go about his day without all the hassle of getting the insurance involved and the inevitable years of increased premiums.

No. No damage of note apart from your easily replaced number plate.
Assume no noticable damage on his car?
He didn't disclose any injury therefore its not a reportable rtc (reportable to the police that is).
You fulfilled your obligations, stopping and offering or trying to exchange details which is all you are required to do. He drove away without exchanging details so technically he hasn't complied with the Road Traffic Act/Order.
Looks like he's not too keen to have any discussion about it.
If by some chance he tries to claim at a later date you can still report to your insurance company then.
In the meantime forget about it.

Only if he believes nonsense like this.

No good reporting it after the event if he decides to try and pull a fast one.

No doubt they will be writing up their claim form for whiplash for theirselves and four other passengers. I’d report it

Don't worry. The post above is just trying to wind you up.

The downside of internet forums unfortunately.

I want to do the right thing here, although he never really engaged with any conversation and after looking at his car realized there was no obvious damage he just sat back in his car and then went on his way..Part of me wants to tell my insurance and part of me says no need ..I don't even think he looked at my reg judging by the footage i have ..
